There are so many things I love about this Log Cabin Grub cookbook. It has an index. It has a section on the history of cast iron. There is even a picture showing how to hang the cookbook at your campsite. The drawings are simple but cute. Where else will you find a recipe for buffalo or jackrabbit stew? I absolutely love the handwritten notes on each page. There are so many useful tips like how to make poultry seasoning (thyme, sage, margrum, rosemary, pepper, and nutmeg.) How to brine is included and how to care for a dutch oven. I will use this all the time and highly encourage campers and non-campers to pick this up!
