This latest and fifth installment to the “Sinful Suitors” series touched on English politics with the undersecretary of the foreign office finally taking the spotlight. “The Secret of Flirting” is another winning tale of a cat and mouse romance between Baron Fulkham and winsome actress Monique Servais. It’s quick-paced, exciting, with back and forth repartees; this dual POVs story has the perfect combo that made a diverting read.
I had been equally irked and fascinated of Baron Fulkham the whole time I was reading this series. To finally meet the man behind that shadowy all-knowing, capable of everything persona is beyond interesting. I got to see how Gregory Vyse juggled his personal and professional problems, and triumphs. That he finally met his match in his world of subterfuge was what I called poetic justice.
Monique was by no means a green actress in the sense she knew the way of the world but didn't exactly partake in it, concentrating on taking care of her grandmother. The chemistry between these two characters was off the charts from day one. However, I’m not fully convinced of Gregory’s swift change of heart (after hemming and hawing for quite a while). That said, I found his quick thinking that result in the streak of machination quite impressive. They more than made up for his shortcomings, at least that’s the way I see it... in overlooking some of the most glaring facts and almost being outwitted by the villains.
This book compliments the romances of the St. George’s club members. It's one of my favorites of the “Sinful Suitors” series so far. This won’t be the last of Sabrina Jeffries’ books that I read and I’m keen to see what adventure her next story will bring.
“Quick pacing, witty dialogue, and charmingly original characters set Jeffries’ books apart” (Publishers Weekly, starred review), and The Secret of Flirting is the next thrilling romance in the bestselling Sinful Suitors series!
The moment spymaster Baron Fulkham meets the stunning Princess Aurore of Chanay, he's positive her royal persona is a ruse and that she's actually Monique Servais, the mysterious actress he met three years before in Dieppe. But as he pursues his suspicions, he uncovers a plot of attempted assassination and betrayal that could very well destroy his career, expose his own secrets...and ruin the woman he's rapidly coming to love.
The Secret of Flirting is a sizzling historical romance filled with fast-paced storytelling, an enchanting heroine, and a sexy hero, perfect for fans of Regency romance.
