Chasing Christmas Eve

A Heartbreaker Bay Novel

This story may be set at Christmas time but it’s more than just another Christmas story. The characters have lives, issues and solutions that started before Dec and definitely will be there after December. Colbie and Spencer are fantastic characters that are breaking out of the roles that they have been playing for years, much to the shock of their friends, family and co-workers. Yet, this is more than rebellion. There are so many parts of this story that I love. First, it is part of a series that I totally enjoy and while this story can be read without reading the other stories in the series, it was wonderful to read about characters that I already know and love. Next is the humor. Even Spencer agrees that it’s hard not to love someone who finds humor falling into a fountain. There are terrific examples of humorous incidents throughout this story which just has to have you laughing. I also love that it takes someone with problems and they don’t magically disappear but you have to work on making them less an issue. It brings a wonderful realistic quality to the story. And lastly, I have to mention that the way family is perceived is awesome. Not all families are the same and this story shows this perfectly. Actually, I think I can say that I loved this story from the first page until the last. I’d say it is the perfect story for any time of the year but Christmas works too.

Colbie has had enough and just wants a break from her family and responsibilities. She thinks heading to a sunny beach would be perfect but once at the airport that option doesn’t seem doable. However, there is a flight to San Francisco which she grabs. After all, running away just means leaving. Spencer is helping a friend out by walking a large dog when the dog runs into a woman by a fountain pushing her in. For some unknown reason, he is instantly attracted to her. He’s not sure where to go with this unexpected meeting but he’s not going to let her walk away, even after Colbie says she’s only in the area for a couple of weeks.

(A standalone Heartbreaker Bay novel)

Meet cute...

Run for the hills—temporarily. That’s Colbie Albright’s plan when she flees New York for San Francisco. Wrangling her crazy family by day and writing a bestselling YA fantasy series by night has taken its toll. In short, Colbie’s so over it that she’s under it. She’s also under the waters of a historic San Francisco fountain within an hour of arrival. Fortunately, the guy who fishes Colbie out has her looking forward to Christmas among strangers. But she’s pretty sure Spencer Baldwin won’t be a stranger for long.

Make merry...

Spence’s commitment to hiding from the Ghosts of Relationships Past means he doesn’t have to worry about the powerful—okay, crazy hot—chemistry he’s got with Colbie. Just because she can laugh at anything, especially herself... just because she’s gorgeous and a great listener…just because she “gets” Spence immediately doesn’t mean he won’t be able to let Colbie go. Does it?

…and hope for a miracle.

Now the clock’s ticking for Colbie and Spence: Two weeks to cut loose. Two weeks to fall hard. Two weeks to figure out how to make this Christmas last a lifetime.
